This doc details the gig protect insurance product FAQs. The plan you purchased may have other benefits apart from the insurance product, but this page only deals with the insurance-related FAQs.

What is this plan?

This plan is intended to cover gig workers(drivers) in case they are unable to work because of accidental injury, or because of accidental vehicle breakdown

Who is this plan for?

This plan is for driver partners who work on various app platforms, like swiggy, zomato, ola, uber, porter and others. You must be a contract worker, paid per delivery or per trip to qualify.

When does the plan become active?

The plan is bundled as part of a subscription, and activates when you buy the subscription

What does the plan cover?

The plan covers any income lost because of accidental injury or accidental vehicle breakdown. You will get your average daily earnings times the number of days of income lost, as per terms of your plan.

Does this plan cover my hospital expenses?

This plan covers your income lost due to injury. If you have been hospitalized then you can claim under the plan.

Does this plan cover my vehicle repairs?

This plan covers your income lost due to vehicle breakdown. If your vehicle is damaged and you cant work because of it then you can claim under the plan.

How can I file a claim?

You can reach out to your plan provider for support, they will tell you the next steps

What documents do I need before filing a claim if my vehicle is damaged?

If you have had your vehicle damaged, you will need photos of damage, GST bill from garage with inward date, outward date and registration number. You will also need to tell us when and where the incident occurred.

What documents do I need before filing a claim if I have been injured and cannot work?

You will need to submit a discharge summary from hospital, the bill from the hospital, and a certificate from your treating doctor saying you cannot drive or work for X number of days. This must be from a registered hospital and not a clinic.

What is the maximum number of claims you can make in a year?

The plan allows you to make one claim in a year.

What would be the mode of payment of the claims?

The claim will come to you from the app platform you took the plan from.

When will the claim benefit hit my account?

After you resume work, claim benefit will hit your account in approximately 14 working days. This can vary depending on the insurer’s processing time.

Can I cancel my plan?

You can cancel your entire plan, along with all insurance benefits

How do I cancel my plan?

Reach out to your program provider to cancel your subscription. The plan will automatically get cancelled from the next month onwards

What will be the refund process?

This is paid monthly, so there is no refund under the plan. You can cancel anytime, and the monthly deductions will stop.

How much will this plan pay me?

The plan will pay your average daily earnings for the number of days you are affected. The number of days depends on the plan limit chosen. If plan limit is 3 days, then only 3 days are covered

Is there a deductible or co-pay?

There is a deductible of 1 day. So if you are injured and unable to work for 2 days, the plan will cover 2-1=1 day

How will you calculate average daily earnings?

The app platform you work on will calculate and tell us how much you earned over the last 30 days.
